Ron Cunningham's Pietenpol

The Pietenpol AirCamper is a simple two-seat open cockpit high parasol wing airplane. Designed in 1929 by Bernard Pietenpol it was originally powered by a 40 horsepower Model B Ford engine.  There are no kits and no factory ever produced the airplane.  All are built from copies of the original drawings (referring to them as blue prints would be a stretch). There are some 400 Piets registered with the FAA.  Probably around 345 are actually flyable, with many in museums, or other static display venues and some certainly going thru restoration and repair.  There is a very active membership organization: Broadhead Pietenpol Association with some 800 or so members.  They publish an excellent quarterly newsletter with photos of projects, building tips and a large Classified Ads section. they may be reached at bpan@tds.net.
